My box tower is eating the living room...
Almost everything is packed. Tomorrow I need to focus on organizing, cleaning, and finishing up the packing. The plumber is also coming to unhook our washing machine.
I'm feeling much less spazzy than yesterday.

I can't sleep

I probably had too much caffeine earlier. I tried packing some, but it seemed so loud when the house is so quiet.
I got a lot packed today. Still feeling overwhelmed but it is better. My last knit night was fun, but sad. I'm going to miss my friends a lot. They were my first grown-up post-college friends... It was hard to find them, and I'm going to have to work hard to keep in touch.
I'm feeling really bad because I'm so worried about school. Everyone keeps telling me it will be fine, and they are probably right, but I am scared of change. Haven't cried yet, but I'm sure it will happen soon enough. Orientation starts next Wednesday. That's less than a week away. *twitch*

Apologies for my brain vomit. I'm going to try to go to sleep now. Goodnight.

Happy Thanksgiving Flist!

Speak Out with Your Geek Out

I tried to come up with a list of all my nerdy/geeky interests. The above is my notebook page. And I was worried I wouldn't have anything to write about. Don't worry, I'm going to type it out so you can actually read it. ;-)

1. Reading: Started at age 4, haven't stopped since.
2. Science fiction: I love it. Fallen Dragon is probably my favorite book, and David Weber my favorite author.
3. Fantasy: My other favorite genre of everything. Lord of the Rings is of course my favorite, but I have branched out over the years. Newest favorite is probably the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.
4. City of Heroes/Villains: Best Valentine's gift Geoff ever got me. I'm pretty sure MMO's are inherently geeky.
5. Star Trek: TNG or TOS used to be my reward for being good when I was little. Cause my Mom is awesome. :-D
6. Star Wars: I was a little older the first time I saw these movies, but they're still some of my favorites. Geoff is obsessed, so I know he'll always watch with me. Non-remastered preferred!
7. Comic Books: These are still growing on me. I <3 X-Men.
8. My husband: Self explanatory? ;-)
9. Fiber Stuff: So far I have yet to meet a knitter/crocheter/spinner who is not geeky in some way. Even if it's just about yarn!
10. Historical re-enactment: They're fun! And really nerdy!
11. Molecular gastronomy: Food + Science = Happy Danielle
12. Taking things apart to see how they work: Geoff's engineering spirit is rubbing off on me.
13. Primordial Soup: Super awesome board game. I love amoebas!
14. Scrabble/Other Word Games: I beat you! Unless you're Geoff. Or my Mom. :-P
15. Computers: Ever since computer camp all those years ago at Innabah I've been wanting to build my own. Someday.
16. teh interwebz: I don't think you're allowed to be a member of my generation and not be interested in the internet...
17. The Big Bang Theory: It reminds me so much of my college friends, I love it.
18. Biochemistry: It's how you work!
19. Cooking: I made a pound cake yesterday. It is made of 1 lb of butter, 1 lb of sugar, 1 lb of eggs, and 1 lb of flour. Why does the resulting cake only weigh 3lbs 6oz? ;-)
20. Blogging: Obviously.
21. Nutritional Anthropology: I <3 Deb Duchon and Mark Kurlansky!
22. Penguins: Tux! And they're so cute! And all dressed up!
23. Giant Plush Microbes: I have so many now, they're taking over the stuffy pile. And I'm totally okay with that.
24. Lab Glassware in the house: I use a beaker to hold combs in the bathroom and an Erlenmeyer flask for a vase in the living room.
25. Chemistry: It furnishes some of my best jokes. And it's really interesting!
26. Science/Smithsonian/NatGeo/Discovery Channel: Nerding out all the time thanks to these 4. I can learn so much from the TV!
27. They Might Be Giants: Here Comes Science pretty much made my year.
28. Staying out of the sun: It burns my pale flesh. :-(
29. Lord of the Rings: I still remember the day I found the Fellowship on the shelf in the library. A most excellent day. :-D
30. Monty Python: Cause sometimes you just need to watch something silly.
31. Mel Brooks: See above.
32. Lab Work: It's what I do.
33. Thinkgeek: All the Christmas presents I could ever want. And then some!
34. Documentaries: Learning stuff is cool!
35: Firefly: I'll never forgive you Fox.
36. Spending all day at the library: You should see the Greenwich Public Library before you judge me for this one. It's awesome!
37. Obscure pet names no one gets: I miss you Fork, the most awesome computer-themed bunny ever.
38. Dinosaurs: Umm, cause they're awesome. Especially stegosaurus.
39. Halloween: If I ever come up with a better couple's costume than Sodium Chloride I'll be pleased with myself.
40. Robots: I will have that robot lawn mower. I love my robot vacuum, and it's practically the same thing!
41. Science tattoos: If Geoff wasn't so militantly anti-tattoo I would at least have a benzene ring on me in honor of Dr. Baechler.
42. Infectious Diseases: I'm so sad that work canceled their subscription to the Lancet: Infectious Disease. I could page through that thing all day, especially when they're talking skin infections!

Ahahahaha, I have 42 things. I'm not going to spoil that by telling you that I like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy too. ;-)

As Per Usual

What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).

If you are not from the North, you are probably one of the following:
(a) A Southerner who hates Southern accents and tries really hard to "talk right"; or
(b) A New Yorker or New Jerseyan who doesn't have the full accent

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

I got a beta key for the new City of Heroes content, but it went into my junk folder and I clicked "delete" before I realized what it was.  If you delete things in your junk folder on hotmail it disappears forever.  I might cry a little.  :'(

Mermaids: Part 2

He says he'd call it Scales of Justice. I love my husband. :-)

Sleepy Geoff makes little sense

"There should be a mermaid cop drama with black and white mermaids. Like lethal weapon with the white cop as comic relief. But they're mermaids. So it's funnier."

Geoff gets really weird when he's sleepy...
